Important Information for New Student Registrations (not registered yet) for 2018-19 School Year

Dear Oodenawi Public School parents, guardians and students:

In recent years, we have experienced tremendous growth in many areas of Oakville. This has had a significant impact for many school communities. Your child’s elementary school, Oodenawi Public School, has been particularly affected.

Based on current enrolment projections, Oodenawi Public School is expected to reach maximum capacity in the 2018-19 school year. As a result, the Board approved an enrolment cap at Oodenawi Public School of 1190 students and/or 52 classes.

A new elementary school, temporarily named Oakville NE#2 Public School, is expected to open in September 2019 to help ease high enrolment pressures in the school community. Once we reach the enrolment cap of 1190 students (and/or 52 classes), new students wishing to enrol at Oodenawi Public School will be directed to Palermo Public School for both English and French Immersion track new registrations. We anticipate a boundary review will occur in the Fall of 2018, the result of which could impact current Oodenawi and Palermo students for the 2019-2020 school year.

School bus transportation will be provided to students in accordance with Board Transportation Policy.

Students already attending Oodenawi Public School are not affected by this redirection for the 2018-19 school year. This means your child will continue to attend Oodenawi Public School during the 2018-19 school year. This letter is for information purposes only.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 905-335-3663.
